Have you ever wondered what happens before a bouquet arrives at your door?
In this week's blog post, we're taking you behind the scenes at The Crate to share the care, attention, and craftsmanship that goes into every bouquet before it's delivered across Dublin and Ireland.
After carefully curating our weekly selection of seasonal flowers, we await their arrival from our trusted wholesale partners in the Netherlands to our Dublin studio. Each week brings a new collection of blooms, chosen for their beauty, seasonality, and ability to create the signature Crate style our customers know and love.
While the finished bouquet doesn’t spend long in our studio, every stem goes through a thoughtful preparation process designed to maximise freshness, longevity, and beauty.

Unboxing & Conditioning Our Flowers
When our flowers arrive at the studio, they're delivered in long floral transport boxes. The first step is carefully unpacking and organising each variety before conditioning begins.
Conditioning flowers is one of the most important parts of the floristry process. Before a bouquet is designed, every stem is inspected, cleaned, and prepared to ensure it can properly hydrate and thrive once arranged.
Every flower requires slightly different treatment:
- Roses are carefully stripped using rose trippers and gloves to safely remove thorns and excess foliage.
- Delicate blooms such as stock require a gentle touch, as their leaves can easily break during handling.
- Some flowers, like gerbera daisies, require minimal preparation and simply need a fresh cut before being placed in water.

We like to leave a generous amount of foliage on many of our flowers to maintain that abundant, wildflower look that The Crate is known for, while ensuring no leaves sit below the waterline where they could affect vase life.
Once conditioned, every stem is freshly recut and placed into clean buckets of water to hydrate before being transformed into one of our hand-tied bouquets.

The Single Bunch
The Single Bunch is one of our most popular flower arrangements and includes a minimum of 15 stems.
Each bunch is hand-tied using a spiral technique, where stems are carefully arranged by hand to create a balanced, natural shape. This traditional floristry method allows the flowers to sit beautifully in a vase while showcasing the unique character of each bloom.
For many of our flower subscription customers, the Single Bunch has become a weekly ritual, bringing fresh seasonal flowers into homes, offices, and businesses across Ireland.
Designed to feel generous yet effortless, it's the perfect introduction to The Crate experience.

The Double Bunch
The Double Bunch takes everything people love about the Single Bunch and doubles it.
Featuring approximately twice the number of stems, this bouquet is full, abundant, and incredibly impactful. Designed using the same hand-tied technique, the Double Bunch showcases a stunning collection of seasonal flowers in all their glory.
We've heard from many Crate enthusiasts who divide their Double Bunch between multiple vases throughout their home because there are simply so many beautiful blooms to enjoy.

The Forget Me Not
The Forget Me Not is the newest addition to The Crate collection, and it's quickly become a studio favourite.
While it contains fewer stems than our larger bouquets, it still captures everything we love about The Crate: seasonal flowers, thoughtful design, and exceptional value.
At just €30, it's a beautiful option for gifting, treating yourself, or adding a little floral joy to your week. Designed in our signature wildflower style, the Forget Me Not proves that a smaller bouquet can still make a lasting impression.
It's an ideal choice for anyone looking for affordable flower delivery without compromising on quality, style, or seasonality.

Carefully Packaged for Delivery
Once each bouquet is arranged, it's prepared for its journey across Dublin and throughout Ireland.
Every bouquet receives a water pack around the stems to help keep the flowers hydrated during transit. The bouquet is then wrapped, secured, and carefully packed using recyclable packaging materials designed to protect the blooms during delivery.
Before leaving the studio, we add a care card, any chosen add-ons, and complete one final quality check. Then it's off to brighten someone's day.
Whether it's travelling across Dublin or further afield, we want every bouquet to arrive looking as beautiful as it did when it left our studio.

At The Crate, we take flowers seriously.
From selecting beautiful seasonal blooms and conditioning them for maximum vase life, to hand-tying each bouquet and packaging it with care, every step is designed to ensure your flowers arrive looking beautiful and ready to enjoy.
Whether you're sending flowers to a loved one, celebrating a special occasion, or treating yourself to fresh flowers at home, our goal is always the same: to deliver thoughtfully designed seasonal bouquets that bring beauty into everyday life.
Because great flowers don't start at the front door—they start long before the bouquet is even made.
